The Happy Couple in Jacksonville

So we arrived in Jacksonville late last night, after five hours of sitting in terminals and aboard planes. The Omni Hotel in Jacksonville is a pretty nice place; no complaints at all yet. The nicest thing about it thus far was a chance encounter between my fiance’ and the King of Comedy, Cedric the Entertainer.

Apparently, Ced played a nearby convention center last night, and had just wrapped his show as were driving in from the airport. I don’t know all of the details, as I had left the car to go check in and find out about parking, but when I exited the hotel, all I could see was one excited fiance’, and a stretch Hummer pulling off.

“Baby! I got you an autograph from Cedric the Entertainer and we took a picture!”

According to my future wife, dude walked right out of the hotel no later than five seconds after I walked in. She can personally attest to how much of a gentleman he is, as he was very accommodating to her request for the autograph and picture, and did not give an appearance like he was bothered. Ced has always struck me as a cool kind of guy, so it wasn’t surprising to me that he was down to Earth without cameras or big crowds around.

I only pray that he doesn’t turn his encounter with an attractive woman seeking an “autograph” into classic material.

We drove around St. Augustine for the big part of the morning, and found some nice shopping at nearby outlets. The humidity is crazy down here, and we are deciding now what to get into before the proposed storm hits the city. We heard about the airport alerts from today’s incident in Glasgow, so we hope there’s not a lot of trouble getting back tomorrow.

Check in later.
