Should Sarah Palin’s Daughter Get Married?
It’s America’s biggest “oops” since the farce that is the global war on terrorism. Vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin’s daughter is pregnant and poised to marry the father of the child.
But is it a good idea?
Obviously, Palin’s daughter and her groom-to-be won’t be hard up for money. But will they be a happy couple? Is the marriage just a step in assuaging conservative supporters ideals on premarital sex and pregnancy?
Absolutely.
And who’s going to suffer? The kids. The bride and the groom, who now have to manufacture a relationship for the benefit of a party who stakes it popularity on family values. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but there’s no great value in forcing an unprepared couple to make a hug step like marriage.
And what about the child? It will grow up with the distinction of being the baby that launched a historic vice-presidential campaign. A child who united two people in marriage, regardless of whether they were ready or not.
