You have to remember that childbirth, while glorious and miraculous to the world, is traumatic to the physical make up of the mother.

Or maybe I have to remember that, because the basest, most animalistic regions of my mind go to the next time we can have sex.

My wife tells me its not a bad thing, and that there’s no shame in craving the obvious connection between husband and wife within the physical realm. And this article went a long way in tempering the selfish overtures of the mind.

And I’ll admit, in the race to thinking about our next baby, I definitely have a four-lengths lead over my wife. Despite the screaming for hours on end, the lack of sleep, and the inability to find free time, I am so ready to do it all again.

In more ways than one.

Seriously, if you think about the last time you had sex with your spouse and it’s been so long that you have to think more than three seconds, call your husband or wife up right now and tell them how much you are looking forward to getting those drawers tonight.

Seriously.

There’s only but so many things that can break up a happy couple, and both of them can ultimately lead into each other. A lack of money and a lack of sex can really mess up your relationship. I don’t know what its like to be sexless, but I know what its like to be afraid of the prospect. My wife and I stay busy, and when you throw in the usual pressure of thinking “shouldn’t we be having sex like crazy,” you can get to a point where you think something is wrong beyond just making the time to be intimate with each other.

That’s what it all comes down to. Making time. Even if you are having emotional problems, financial problems, sex can be the capstone to a deep and meaningful conversation where feelings are shared and understanding is cultivated. There’s no reason to be sexless, and if you think I’m making it too simple, think about why you got married in the first place.

Because you were comfortable with the prospect of making love with one person for the rest of your life.

Continue to be.

Vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin’s daughter is pregnant and poised to marry the father of the child.

But is it a good idea?

Obviously, Palin’s daughter and her groom-to-be won’t be hard up for money. But will they be a happy couple? Is the marriage just a step in assuaging conservative supporters ideals on premarital sex and pregnancy?

Absolutely.

And who’s going to suffer? The kids. The bride and the groom, who now have to manufacture a relationship for the benefit of a party who stakes it popularity on family values. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but there’s no great value in forcing an unprepared couple to make a hug step like marriage.

And what about the child? It will grow up with the distinction of being the baby that launched a historic vice-presidential campaign. A child who united two people in marriage, regardless of whether they were ready or not.

Let’s say you’ve been married for a short period of time like I have. Hopefully, your marriage is one of laughter, communication and sharing. And while everything on the outside is looking and feeling great, life has gotten in the way of more intimate moments.

In other words, the humping ain’t like it used to be back in the dating days.

But you can change all of that in just 20 minutes. No acrobatics necessary and no purchases necessary to discover new pleasures and passion in a meaningful relationship.

5 min. – Think about what you want out of your sexual experience. Not just fantasies, but what really makes the emotional connection for you in sex. If you can’t think of anything, you should probably take the full 20 minutes for this part.

10 min. - Take this time to talk with your partner about what you want. It might take a little longer than that, but five minutes of solid communication and solid listening without bias can be a really good aphrodisiac. And an incredible trust builder; absolutely necessary for good sex.

5 min. - If you have approached the last 15 minutes with honesty and candor, you should be in the mood for intense intimacy, so now it’s time to hurry up and wait. Don’t rush to sex, but rush to take time to understand how much it means. Hold hands for a while, try to recapture the way a first kiss feels.

Then, get to the humping.
